Gurugram, April 1 -- The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has decided to revamp two intersections-the Cyber Park intersection on Netaji Subhash Marg and Dada Bhaiya junction on the Sector-9/9A and Basai Road. Netaji Subhash Marg is a main arterial road where commuters face congestion due to metro construction, officials aware of the matter said. PC Meena, chief executive officer of GMDA, has directed measures to improve traffic conditions on main roads and intersections, particularly along the metro alignment and near major commercial hubs. A senior GMDA official, asking not to be named, said, "It has been decided to upgrade the Sector 39 intersection as it faces heavy congestion and large commercial buildings such as Cyber Park are located there, resulting in increased footfall. It has been decided to upgrade the intersection with better slip roads and improved entry and exit points. The footpaths will also be reconstructed." A ground survey found that the junction's gates open directly onto the main road, disrupting traffic, officials said. GMDA will redesign access points and construct a slip road from Jharsa village road towards Millennium City centre, they said, adding that an estimated budget of Rs.1.5 crore has been prepared, with tenders scheduled this month. Amit Godara, executive engineer, GMDA, said, "The chief executive officer has issued directions to take measures for reducing congestion on main roads. In this regard, the intersection at Cyber Park will be upgraded. Tenders for this project will be issued in April." According to officials, GMDA also plans to upgrade the sectors 9/9A and Basai Road intersection along the metro alignment. The revamp includes constructing a slip road connecting Dwarka Expressway to sectors 9/9A and another for movement towards Umang Bhardwaj Chowk. A design is being commissioned from a consultancy firm and is expected to be finalised within 10 to 15 days, after which work will begin following CEO approval, officials said....
