Gurugram, June 15 -- A man wanted in the murder of a local resident was killed in a shootout with the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) near Dujana village in Jhajjar district late Sunday night, said officials, adding that an STF inspector sustained a bullet injury in the exchange of fire. The deceased was wanted in connection with the murder of Vijay Saini, who was shot dead in agricultural fields near Dujana on May 31. According to STF officials, the team received a tip-off about the accused's presence near Dujana village and moved to apprehend him. Pradeep Kumar, DSP, STF Bhondsi, said, "The accused was asked to surrender but continued firing, prompting STF to retaliate. During the exchange an inspector suffered a gunshot wound to his hand." Police said the accused was injured in the retaliatory firing and was declared dead at a hospital.
