Man arrested for killing son over 40-bigha land dispute in Hapur
Meerut, June 4 -- A 25-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his own father over a dispute involving 40 bighas of land in Hapur district. The victim, Tushar Tyagi, was found shot dead inside his Scorpio SUV near Panchi village on the Meerut-Bulandshahr highway late Monday night. Police have arrested his father, Sundar Tyagi, a history-sheeter, along with his associate Amit, a resident of Dehradun.
According to investigators, the murder stemmed from a long-running disagreement over family land. Tushar wanted to sell the 40 bighas of agricultural land and invest the proceeds in a business venture, while his father strongly opposed the move. Police said the dispute ultimately led Sundar Tyagi to allegedly conspire to kill his son.
The victim's sister, Mona Tyagi, told police that Tushar received a phone call on Monday evening from someone claiming to be hungry and asking him to bring food. Trusting the request, Tushar left home in his Scorpio carrying the meal.
Police believe the request was a carefully planned trap. Tushar was allegedly called to a secluded location where he was later shot dead.
In her complaint, Tushar's wife, Shikha Tyagi, said her husband, a resident of Doymi village in Hapur, left home around 8 p.m., saying he would return shortly. About an hour later, Tushar made a WhatsApp call informing his family that Arvind alias Bittu Tyagi and some associates were taking him into a forested area and threatening to kill him. Moments later, both of his mobile phones were switched off. The family immediately began searching for him.
At around 11 p.m., a call was reportedly received from the mobile phone of Arvind alias Bittu Tyagi by a village youth named Krish, who was assisting the family in the search. According to Krish, the caller claimed that Tushar had been shot before disconnecting the call and switching off the phone. htc...
