Officials said verification is underway to determine whether the animal is responsible for the child's death. Forest officials collected samples from the captured leopard and sent them for forensic analysis to the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in Dehradun and Pashulok in Rishikesh. Sub-divisional forest officer of the Agastyamuni range Devendra Singh Pundir said precautionary measures remain in place despite the capture.
