Agra, Aug. 25 -- In a major crackdown on the land mafia, Aligarh police have attached land worth over Rs.33 crore in the Tappal area, where investors were allegedly cheated in the name of buying and selling prime plots near the Yamuna Expressway. The action was carried out under Section 10 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which allows for the attachment, forfeiture, and restoration of properties deemed to be 'proceeds of crime'. According to a press statement issued on Saturday, the action followed directives from Uttar Pradesh director general of police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna and targeted mafia operations active in the Tappal area of Aligarh district. This follows a similar operation in July this year, where Aligarh police attached land valued at more than Rs.60 crore. That land, measuring approximately 40,000 square meters, was also connected to a fraudulent scheme involving the sale of prime real estate near the Yamuna Expressway. The earlier action was taken under the Gangsters Act against three accused individuals from Gautam Buddh Nagar who were operating under the name of a company. In the latest operation, land measuring 15,200 square meters - valued at Rs.33,03,72,000 - was attached under Section 10 of the BNSS. Authorities allege that the accused sold plots carved out of this land without obtaining mandatory map approvals from the competent authority. According to the officials, a case has been registered at Tappal Police Station against the accused, Sharib Tasneem and Saad Rehman, under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 447, and 504 of the IPC, along with other relevant provisions of applicable laws.htc...
