Mussoorie, Oct. 12 -- The Kedar Sabha, an association of Kedarnath temple priests (Teerth Purohits), has written to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, demanding the immediate removal of Hemant Dwivedi, president of the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC). Rajendra Prasad Tiwari, general secretary of Kedar Sabha, said, "In a letter addressed to the chief minister on Friday, members have expressed deep concern over the conduct of BKTC president Hemant Dwivedi. There is widespread resentment among locals and temple priests regarding his working style." The Sabha alleged that Dwivedi has not consulted temple priests or the Kedar Sabha members on key matters and urged the chief minister to dismiss him before the temple portals are closed to "protect the sanctity and functioning of the shrine". They warned that failure to act could lead to mass protests and agitation. Responding to the allegations, Hemant Dwivedi said, "These claims are baseless.... The Yatra season is concluding, and no complaints have surfaced against BKTC. On the contrary, donations to Badrinath and Kedarnath temples have increased this year, exceeding last year's contributions, despite the natural disasters affecting the Char Dham Yatra." Dwivedi added, "The allegations are politically motivated by those who cannot appreciate the work done during my tenure. The issue is being raised without any substantial basis."...
