Gurugram, Nov. 4 -- A 40-year-old inmate of Bhondsi jail died on Monday after suddenly developing breathing difficulties, prison officials said on Tuesday. The cause of death is yet to be established. Rishabh Mehta, a resident of Sector 11, complained of breathlessness and uneasiness around 10am while in his barrack. He was taken to the prison hospital and later to the Civil Hospital in Sector 10A, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Deputy superintendent Anil Kumar said Mehta had been receiving psychiatric treatment and medication for asthma for six years under the prison doctor's supervision. The autopsy has been conducted and the body handed over to his family. The report is awaited. Mehta was arrested in September 2019 for allegedly killing his father and seriously injuring his mother at their home. A murder case was registered at Shivaji Nagar police station.
