HSPCB seals 47 concrete mixing plants in GGM
Gurugram, June 12 -- The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has sealed 47 ready-mix concrete (RMC) plants across Gurugram in the first week of June for violating environmental norms, officials said.
According to HSPCB, several plants either lacked pollution-control equipment or had non-functional systems, while some did not have CCTV cameras required for monitoring emissions. Officials said the units were issued notices earlier but failed to take corrective action.
Vishal, assistant environment engineer at HSPCB North, Gurugram, said many of the plants had previously been sealed but resumed operations without obtaining the required no-objection certificate from the board.
The crackdown follows a field visit by HSPCB chair Vinay Pratap Singh. Officials said 31 plants have also failed to pay environmental compensation penalties amounting to Rs.25 crore. A fine of Rs.5,000 per day will be imposed on non-compliant units until they meet the required norms.
