Gurugram, Oct. 6 -- The Gurugram Metro Rail Ltd (GMRL) on Monday floated a tender for construction of the 14.2-km Phase 2 priority corridor from Sector 9 to DLF Cyber Hub, estimated to cost Rs.1,662 crore. The project will include 13 stations and double-decker flyover-cum-metro structures at Bajghera and Old Delhi Road. Officials said the corridor will be financed by the World Bank and must be completed within 30 months of the work being awarded. According to the tender document, the 13 stations will be at Sector 7, Sector 4, Sector 5, Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector 23A, Sector 22, Udyog Vihar Phase 4, Udyog Vihar Phase 5 and Cyber City. Platforms will be designed to accommodate six-coach trains. The contractor will also construct an approximately 800-metre double-decker stretch at Bajghera and a 1.2-km stretch on Old Delhi Road, with a road flyover on the lower tier and the metro viaduct above it. GMRL said the integrated double-decker structure was adopted to make better use of road space and improve traffic flow along the two stretches. The scope of work includes detailed surveys, geotechnical investigations, piling, pier caps and U-type girders, besides construction of stations and related infrastructure. The contractor will also have to prepare traffic diversion and management plans in consultation with Gurugram Traffic Police and provide marshals, cones, diversion boards and other safety arrangements during construction. Bids can be submitted between November 9 and November 18, officials said. A senior GMRL official said the tender places emphasis on quality, timely delivery and cost control, and the contract will be awarded to a firm with a proven track record. According to the detailed project report, the corridor has been planned with a horizon year of 2041 and a projected maximum peak-hour peak-direction traffic of 34,309 passengers.
