GMDA to blacklist 2 firms over lapses
Gurugram, June 5 -- The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) on Thursday ordered action against two contractors for negligence in their projects in Basai and Sector 17, officials said.
GMDA CEO PC Meena conducted a field visit across various sectors to review monsoon preparedness, ongoing drainage works and infra works.
Officials told HT that Meena directed all officers to monitor pending works and ensure their completion within the given timelines.
At Hero Honda Chowk, Meena directed cleaning of drains and removal of debris from green belts.
At Basai Chowk, debris had accumulated in a drain below a flyover. The CEO directed the removal of the debris at the earliest. He also directed blacklisting of the contractor from future projects, officials said.
During the inspection of the pending drain construction work in front of the Air Force Station in Sector 17, the CEO took serious note of delays and negligence by the executing agency. He directed blacklisting of the contractor and instructed officials to engage another agency to complete the work within 20 days, officials said.
A GMDA official said that Meena also directed officials to complete the construction of an additional drain along the railway line by June 20 to provide relief from waterlogging in sectors 4, 7, 9 and Laxman Vihar.
Officials said that Meena also inspected Basai Pond along with officials from the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and directed that treated water be supplied to the pond to ensure its revival....
