Drenched in festivities: Over 200 venues to host Dussehra celebrations in Ggm
Gurugram, Oct. 20 -- The Dussehra celebrations are planned at more than 200 venues across Gurugram, with Ramlila performances and Ravana effigy burnings at community grounds, neighbourhoods and residential complexes.
From Old Gurugram to the Dwarka Expressway corridor and DLF phases, resident welfare associations (RWAs) and organising committees have been preparing effigies of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhakarna for the customary burning symbolising the victory of good over evil.
Raj Saini, media coordinator of the Shri Durga Ramlila committee, Jacobpura, said celebrations were being organised at several locations across Old Gurugram, including Sector 12A and Jacobpura grounds.

Dalip Sahni, patron of the Dussehra mela committee, said a 40-member team had raised funds from residential and commercial establishments for the celebrations.
Several gated colonies and condominiums, particularly along the Dwarka Expressway corridor, are also organising celebrations within their premises, reducing the need for residents to travel to major grounds.
Assistant commissioner of police (DLF) Vishnu said around 100 to 120 police personnel would be deployed at two locations in DLF Phase 1 and 2.
Narender Kumar, fire safety officer at the Sector 29 fire station, said 16 fire tenders would be deployed at designated locations, seven at fire stations and four at major police stations, and around 125 personnel will be on duty....
