Gurugram, Oct. 2 -- A convict at Neemka district jail in Faridabad was booked for allegedly assaulting an undertrial who resisted an alleged sexual assault, police said on Thursday. The matter came to light after the undertrial approached prison officials. Following a complaint by the jail superintendent, an FIR was registered at Sadar Ballabgarh police station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions related to voluntarily causing hurt and wrongful confinement. Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav said the two men were lodged in the same barrack. "Last week, the suspect dragged the inmate into a bathroom and tried to sexually assault him. He also assaulted the victim when he resisted," Yadav said. Police said relevant provisions would be added if an attempted sexual assault is established during probe.debashish karmakar...
