Pithoragarh, Sept. 15 -- The second phase of the 2026 Adi Kailash yatra, scheduled to begin on September 15, has been deferred due to damage to the road at Kulagar on the Dharchula-Gunji route, Dharchula sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Ashish Joshi said. "We have postponed the issuing of the inner line passes till September 19. It moreover depends on weather conditions if they could be issued from September 20," he said. According to the SDM, the Kulagar bridge, which collapsed again on September 12 after being reconstructed on September 5, is still under construction. "After the Bailey bridge gets constructed and weather conditions improve, we will start issuing inner line permits to Adi Kailash pilgrims," Joshi said. The first phase of the Adi Kailash yatra was held between May and July this year, with more than 50,000 pilgrims from across the country taking part.
