Gurugram, Sept. 21 -- Two suspected cow smugglers, including a wanted criminal carrying a bounty, were injured and arrested after a gunfight with police near Ghaseda village in Nuh early Sunday, police officers said. Ferozepur Jhirka crime staff received a tip-off that smugglers would transport cattle towards Rajasthan via the Gurugram-Sohna-Nuh route and set up a barricade around 3.30am. Police said a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga stopped 50 metres away, attempted a U-turn and rammed the police vehicle. A passenger then opened fire, prompting retaliatory fire. Two suspects were shot in the leg and arrested, while two escaped. The injured were taken to Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Medical College, Nalhar. Police recovered three cattle, two pistols, four live cartridges and three empty shells.
