Yash confirms October release for Ramayana
India, April 17 -- A
ctor-producer Yash recently revealed the release window for the upcoming Ramayana: Part 1, starring Ranbir Kapoor, at an industry event in Las Vegas.
"Ramayana, we are planning [to release] this year on Diwali, which is in the last week of October," he said.
This year, Diwali will be celebrated on November 8. If Yash's statement holds, Ramayana: Part 1 is likely to arrive in theatres at least a week before the festival. Earlier reports had suggested an October 30 release.
Talking about the epic Ramayana, on which the film is based and in which he plays Ravana, Yash said, "Ramayana has a certain substance that stays with you for a long time. The very reason this story has endured for so long, and gone beyond boundaries, almost transcending cultures, where people truly own it, suggests there's something deeply universal about it. And I feel that experiencing it on the big screen, with today's technology, could make it feel even more immersive and unique for audiences." Yash is also the co-producer of the film.
The first look of Ranbir as Rama in the film was unveiled earlier this month on Hanuman Jayanti and received mixed reactions for its VFX quality. Producer Namit Malhotra later said that the team has taken audience feedback into account and will present a spectacle viewers can be proud of. HTC...
