India, Sept. 28 -- Two-time WWE champion Drew McIntyre (real name Andrew McLean Galloway IV) has been cast in the upcoming Highlander remake, stepping into the role of Angus MacLeod, brother of Connor MacLeod, played by Henry Cavill. The reboot will bring together a starry ensemble including Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan and former WWE wrestler turned actor Dave Bautista. Directed by Chad Stahelski, the film was originally slated to begin shooting this year but has been postponed after Cavill sustained an injury during pre-production. The current plan is to resume production in early 2026. McIntyre has already dipped his toes into acting, having appeared in the 2024 film The Killer's Game, which also starred Bautista. McIntyre's casting is creating buzz among both wrestling and film fans, especially over his commanding presence and Scottish roots, both of which work well for the Highlander universe. In an earlier interview, Bautista had said, "The action is on par with John Wick... I think people are going to be blown away by this because it's bigger than you imagine, and it's new enough that you won't be seeing the same thing." htc...
