Wimbledon clamps down on influencers after US Open drama
India, Sept. 8 -- After ring lights, noisy videos and mid-match photoshoots made influencer conduct a talking point at the US Open, Wimbledon is drawing a line for its 2027 edition.
According to the Press Association, the All England Club said it has no plans to introduce an accreditation category for influencers or content creators. Security will also confiscate disruptive filming equipment, including ring lights and portable tripods under existing regulations.
The move follows an incident during Japanese tennis ace Naomi Osaka's first-round match against Russian player Anastasia Zakharova, when the chair umpire paused play and asked a group filming in a suite to sit down.
This year, nearly 100 creators received US Open credentials, up from 54 in 2025 in a bid for the tournament to expand its reach. Tennis stars like Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka publicly called out the behaviour, urging attendees to respect basic court etiquette. htc...
