India, Oct. 10 -- The 'cake canvas' trend is taking over Instagram, with creators placing cake slices in glass containers on wooden easels and painting flowers with frosting and spatulas. With videos crossing five million views, the trend turns desserts into floating works of art. Bakers and culinary creators are embracing the trend as a bridge between pastry science and self-expression. Delhi-based baker Mehak Narula, who runs Mekabi Bakehouse & Gifting Studio, says, "People are loving this trend because it allows you to express yourself through a baker's lens... In our field, baking isn't just a science; it's an art form." She adds, "While recreating it at home can be challenging, especially tinting and stabilising the buttercream, anyone with an artistic eye can master it once they get the right recipe down." Chef and food stylist Sheeba Desouza adds, "The trend turns a cake into something more personal and artistic. Instead of just decorating it, you are creating an edible piece of art. She shares that the hand-painted finish gives it character: "Watching a simple frosted cake turn into a painted canvas is incredibly satisfying, which naturally lends itself to social media."...
