Turning producer has been a game-changer
India, Sept. 13 -- Huma Qureshi recently made her debut at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival 2025 (TIFF) with Bayaan, where she serves not only as the lead actor but also as executive producer. While she continues to embrace commercial Hindi films, Huma says she's now focused on building a more diverse portfolio.
Speaking to us from Toronto, the 39-year-old says, "I've always been interested in a global career - one that takes Indian stories to the world. The stories remain Indian, but the approach is global."
The actor also emphasises the importance of global collaboration in cinema, noting, "I truly believe the future of films lies in cross-cultural collaborations with actors and directors from different countries and festivals like TIFF make that possible."
Having recently launched a production house with her brother, actor Saqib Saleem, Huma reflects on how the experience has shaped her: "Turning producer has been a game changer. It teaches you empathy and deepens your understanding of the filmmaking process. It makes you humbler."...
