India, March 1 -- Before Holi: Apply a thick layer of petroleum jelly on the earlobes, behind the ears and nostrils. Use a high-moisture lip balm with SPF to protect your lips. Avoid using matte lipsticks. In crowded areas with dry powder, wearing a mask is a wise precaution. After Holi: Clean the outer folds of your ears gently with a cotton bud dipped in oil. Avoid inserting anything deep into the ear canal. For lips, a gentle sugar and honey scrub can remove stains while keeping them soft. Risks: Inhaling powder can trigger asthma, rhinitis, or other respiratory issues. Stained lips may lead to ingestion of toxic metals such as lead or mercury, causing nausea, headaches, or digestive discomfort. Contaminated coloured water may lead to eye, ear, or sinus infections.
