This Canadian bar serves a cocktail with a human toe!
India, Oct. 11 -- Would you drink a cocktail with an actual human toe in it? At a bar in Canada's Yukon territory, that's exactly what visitors do as part of a decades-old tradition. Their stomach-churning dare involves swallowing a shot of liquor garnished with a real, dehydrated human toe.
Served at the Sourdough Saloon in Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada, the Sourtoe Cocktail is a shot of liquor with a human toe in it. Drinking it earns you membership in the exclusive Sourtoe Cocktail Club.
According to Dawson City's official website, joining this exclusive club takes three steps: walk into the Sourdough Saloon, take the 'Sourtoe Oath,' and watch as a human toe gets plunked into your glass. Taking this dare comes with one non-negotiable rule: "You can drink it fast, you can drink it slow, but your lips have gotta touch the toe".
The legend dates back to the 1920s, when rum-runner Louie Linken's toe froze during a blizzard, forcing his brother Otto to amputate and preserve it in a jar of alcohol. Years later, in 1973, Captain Dick Stevenson discovered it and established the Sourtoe Cocktail Club. Over the years, different rules were developed.
Since its inception, the club has acquired over 25 toes by donation. In the most recent years, ex-Royal Marine Nick Griffiths donated his severed toe to the club.
While the dare may not appeal to everyone, Sourtoe Cocktail continues to attract adventurous visitors. HTC...
