India, Oct. 17 -- W ith a slight nip in the air and fairy lights illuminating the grounds, the Embassy of Sweden in Delhi hosted the Sweden Day Reception on Wednesday in the run-up to Diwali. The double celebrations saw a true blend of cultures. A fusion of gol gappas and classic Swedish meatballs, with desi music like Mundian To Bach Ke meeting the iconic Swedish sounds of ABBA's Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! Attendees dressed in festive Indian attire and donned flower wreaths, echoing the Midsummer celebrations in Sweden - a much-loved tradition where people pick flowers and create their own floral crowns. Jan Thesleff, Ambassador of Sweden, warmly welcomed the guests with 'Shubh Diwali', and was joined onstage by Swedish-Greek actor Elli AvrRam. He also quipped during his speech: "Someone asked me for my dream - I want to be in a Bollywood movie!" He added, "People often mistake Sweden for Switzerland, and we'd like them to do that more and come to Sweden instead!"
