India, Sept. 13 -- T he Shape of Belonging, a documentary by Priyansh Sinha, a Class XI student at Shiv Nadar School, Noida, premiered at India Habitat Centre, Delhi. Described as "A Sensory Exploration of Every Brick and Path", the film explores the link between built environments and neurodivergence, focusing on sensory stimulation, navigation, spatial design and cognitive comfort. The motivation stems from Priyansh's experience of seeing his neurodivergent brother struggle in spaces with harsh lighting, loud echoes and overwhelming stimulation. The screening was followed by a panel discussion featuring Anshu Sharma, Vice Principal - International Curriculum, Shiv Nadar School, Noida; Dr Deepa Malik, Padma Shri awardee; Dr Sewa Ram, Dean (Research), School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi; Merry Barua, Founder Director, Action for Autism; and Mohit Ahuja, Founder, Know Disability. Anshu Sharma said, "I congratulate Priyansh on his thoughtful film, which reflects creativity, sensitivity and a meaningful understanding of the importance of inclusivity and community in the spaces we inhabit. It is truly appreciable to see how thoughtfully our students observe their surroundings and identify needs and perspectives that are often overlooked." I observed how my brother, Shreyan Sinha, experiences fatigue in poorly designed environments and is often misunderstood as having an inherent behavioural issue.
