India, Aug. 17 -- Actors Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff have been issued show-cause notices by the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over their 2024 Vimal Elaichi advertisement. The regulator has alleged that the campaign may indirectly promote the Vimal pan masala brand, which is prohibited in Maharashtra. The actors have been given 15 days to respond. The FDA said the use of "VIMAL Elaichi" appeared to create an association with the Vimal Pan Masala brand. In its notice, it said such communication may amount to "indirect or surrogate promotion of a prohibited/restricted product". The nine-page notice, dated August 11, also asks the actors to discontinue their participation in the campaign, remove related promotional content from their social media handles and submit details of their endorsement agreements and campaign briefs. The notices come amid a wider crackdown by the Tukaram Mundhe-led FDA, which has recently targeted high-end restaurants, quick-commerce warehouses and banned gutkha and pan masala products across Maharashtra. We reached out to the actors' teams but received no response till the time of going to press. HTC...
