India, June 19 -- A ctor Preity G Zinta has been granted permission by the Bombay High Court to file a civil suit against Google LLC, Meta and several other entities over alleged AI-generated deepfakes and unauthorised use of her identity. According to a report by Bar and Bench, the actor has alleged that multiple entities created, circulated and monetised deepfake videos, manipulated images, memes, chatbot personas and other digital content using her likeness without consent, causing reputational harm. Zinta argued that although the content is accessible globally, its impact is felt in India, where she lives, works and conducts her business. She also contended that her goodwill and reputation are intrinsically linked to Mumbai, bringing the matter within the Bombay High Court's jurisdiction. Accepting her submissions, Justice Abhay Ahuja granted her leave to institute the suit.
