India, July 25 -- T aking its grand opening outside Delhi for the first time in its history, the inaugural show of Hyundai India Couture Week 2026, in association with Nexxus New York, an FDCI initiative, kicked off on Thursday at the regal Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad. Designer Anamika Khanna opened the week with her latest collection, titled Moonlit Palace, against the arches of the Nizam-era estate. The presentation explored how historic Indian embroidery and handloom techniques can be reimagined for modern fashion. Under soft silver lighting that matched the palace backdrop, models walked in relaxed, draped outfits with metal and jewellery details stitched directly into the fabric rather than worn as extra accessories. The second part of the show drew inspiration from Barmer, a town in Rajasthan near Khanna's birthplace. Working with local women artisans, she brought bright colours, mirrorwork, gold foil, and hand-painted textiles to the runway.
