META 2026 takes centre stage in the Capital
India, April 12 -- The Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) 2026 drew steady crowds to Kamani Auditorium and Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts as the Capital hosted a week-long celebration of theatre. In its 21st edition, the festival presented a diverse mix of productions spanning women's narratives, mythology, literary adaptations, social themes and biographical stories, enriched with music, choreography and poetry.
Selected from 422 entries, the final showcase featured 10 plays across Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, Sanskrit and English, along with an experimental Gibberish.
The festival concluded with an awards ceremony judged by Amal Allana, Anuradha Kapur, Rajit Kapur, Satish Alekar and Ila Arun. Mithyasur and Je Janlagulor Akash Chilo were among the winners, while Amol Palekar received the Lifetime Achievement Award. htc...
