Industry mourns Lagaan, Ghajini actor Pradeep Rawat

ctor Pradeep Rawat, best known as Deva in Lagaan (2001) and the menacing Ghajini Dharmatma in Ghajini (2008), died on Tuesday evening. He was 74. Recalling his final moments, his son, Vikramaditya, told the media on Wednesday, "Yesterday, it was unexplainable. His platelets fell to 3,000. We rushed outside the ICU; all the doctors were inside... I opened the door, and they were giving him CPR. I understood then itself... I am sure he is in a better place." Rawat had been admitted to a hospital in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, for over a month after battling cancer. A familiar face across Hindi, Telugu and Tamil cinema, he was also remembered for his role as Ashwatthama in BR Chopra's Mahabharat. His Lagaan co-star Yashpal Sharma, Vishnu Manchu, Prabhudheva and sound designer Resul Pookutty, were among those who paid tribute. His last rites were held in Mumbai on Wednesday, with several celebs, including his Lagaan and Ghajini co-star Aamir Khan and filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, in attendance.
