Exaggerated, baseless: Raaj refutes Ektaa's allegations
India, March 6 -- After reports surfaced about director Raaj Shaandilyaa getting into legal trouble with filmmaker Ektaa Kapoor over her objections to his new directorial, he has now broken his silence on the issue. In a statement issued on Thursday, he denied any wrongdoing and insisted that his next film, Bhagam Bhaag 2, is very much on track, contrary to speculation.
"I had, in accordance with my contractual rights, issued a notice terminating my arrangement with Balaji Telefilms. It has now been over two weeks. If they believed it had any sustainable legal basis to challenge the termination, it was open to them to approach the appropriate civil court. No such proceedings have been initiated," it read.
Ektaa had alleged that Raaj had broken a three-film contract with her, and directed two films outside her banner without obtaining any NOC.
The statement further read, "Instead, what has now surfaced are... exaggerated and baseless criminal allegations. I remain fully confident of my legal position and will address any such allegations through the appropriate legal process."
Speaking of his next directorial, he adds, "It may also be clarified that Bhagam Bhag 2 is very much on track and the project will proceed as scheduled." The film stars actor Akshay Kumar alongside Paresh Rawal and Manoj Bajpayee. When we reach out to Paresh, he says he has not been informed of any delay: "I have not been intimated." Akshay, meanwhile, has taken off to the Maldives for a short vacation with family....
