Colour, creativity, conscious celebration @ KNC: Diwali mela puts women future-preneurs first
India, Oct. 17 -- Divyanshi, Fine Arts student:
"Days like this make me feel like I can really build something of my own. I love creating art with acrylics, and when people actually buy or appreciate it, it's so motivating! The idea of women creating, selling and running small ventures - it gives you a sense of independence and makes you believe art can be more than just a hobby. The paintings I've made are all bright and festive, perfect to add some colour and joy to Diwali corners at home."
Sakshi, member of Hariyali, the Gardening Society:
"This time of year Delhi's air gets really bad, and everyone talks about pollution but very few do something. So we thought, why not start with small steps like plants? The pots we're selling are painted by students, and it's just a fun way to remind people that greenery can be a cool gift too - especially during Diwali! Having plants around the house just makes the space fresher and brings that calm, green vibe to the celebrations."
Nandini, second-year student:
"I make these small plushies and crochet flowers for Diwali decor using leftover materials like pipe cleaners. It's my way of saying you don't always need to buy new things to celebrate - you can recycle and still make something cute and festive. The little plushies and flowers can brighten up your table or puja setup - they look adorable and are totally eco-friendly."
Aditi, student visitor:
"It's such a happy vibe here! There's music, colours, stalls - and everything's made by the students themselves. It actually feels nice to shop knowing it's all handmade and eco-friendly."...
