Celina's brother won't talk to her, MEA tells Delhi HC

he Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) informed the Delhi HC on Thursday that Major (Retd) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, brother of actor Celina Jaitly, detained in the UAE since September 2024, does not wish to communicate with her.
CGSC Nidhi Raman, who appeared for the MEA, said in the court, according to Bar and Bench, "He refuses to interact with her. He interacts with wife (Charul Jaitly), but she refuses signing the power of attorney. Ministry is stuck in between." The submission came in response to the court's earlier direction asking the Centre to facilitate communication between the siblings.
Celina, who physically appeared in court, said, "I came before the court in 2025 because I was stonewalled by the wife." The judge asked Charul, who appeared via video call, whether she wanted Vikrant released from prison, to which she replied, "Why would a wife not want that? Without consent, our life and relationship have been made a circus, a media joke."
The court has urged both sides to "work in tandem" to ensure Vikrant receives the best possible legal assistance. It also encouraged efforts to "re-establish relations" in the larger interest of the case. HTC...
