India, May 3 -- It was an evening of rhythm, grace, and nostalgia as Padma Vibhushan Dr Sonal Mansingh kicked off the Golden Jubilee celebrations of her Centre for Indian Classical Dances (CICD). Marking 50 years since its inception in 1977, the event saw the city's cultural circuit turn up in full force. On the occasion, she said, "CICD was conceived as a space for training in dance and allied arts and for a journey of life through art." She further added, "Over these 50 years, it has sought to nurture artists who are sensitive individuals, connected with traditions yet aware of the world they inhabit.
