India, April 7 -- Students at Delhi University's North Campus witnessed a tense start to the week on Monday after Ramjas College and Miranda House received a bomb threat via email, prompting immediate evacuation of both colleges. Authorities moved swiftly, asking students and staff to vacate the premises as a precaution. Bijayalaxmi Nanda, principal of Miranda House, confirmed the move, saying, "We evacuated (the college) on advice. It is the standard protocol." Security checks were initiated, and classes were cancelled. For many students, the sudden alarm triggered confusion and anxiety. "I was in the chemistry lab when a loud alarm went off at around 11.30am. Initially, I thought it's a mock drill, but soon we were told to leave immediately," said Sakshi Sharma, a first-year student of BSc (Life Science) at Ramjas. Within minutes, the campus was cleared. At Miranda House, students described the situation as unprecedented. "Never in my dreams did I imagine that I'd come to college on a regular Monday and hear an alarm for something as serious as a bomb threat," said Kriti, a first-year BA (Prog) student. Many students relied on calls and social media updates for information. "I was on my way from Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station when four of my friends called and told me not to come," said Rohit Ratan, a second-year student of BA (Prog) at Ramjas, adding, "Soon pictures of bomb squads and police dogs started circulating on the groups."
