India, April 19 -- Friday evening witnessed a spotlight on the rich textile heritage of Tangail and Pabna sarees as diplomats, politicians and textile enthusiasts gathered at the Bangladesh High Commission. The exposition, Celebrating The Art Of Saree-Weaving From Bangladesh, features over 300 curated pieces and also marks Tangail's recent recognition as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Riaz Hamidullah, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, noted, "This is not an act of diplomacy. This is a pure celebration of craftsmanship... Often, we see a saree as a finished garment but I invite you to touch the fabrics, feel the history, and join us in celebrating the human spirit behind the loom... We must share our commonalities - our art, culture and heritage." The event has free entry for public view and sale until April 21....
