India, May 20 -- On International Museum Day (May 18), Delhi's handloom lovers and designers gathered at the National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy for the unveiling of Ajrakh: The Blue Gold, an exhibition celebrating India's rich textile heritage. The exhibition was inaugurated by Development Commissioners, Ministry of Textiles, Amrit Raj (Handicrafts) and Dr M Beena (Handlooms) alongside Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) Chairman Sunil Sethi. Curated over a year by members of FDCI, it reimagines the centuries-old Ajrakh craft with a contemporary twist. While some pieces stayed rooted in the print's classic geometric style, others experimented with playful motifs like schools of fish and a sprinkle of glitter. Speaking at the launch, Amrit Raj said the museum introduces new exhibits every two-three months to stay current and inspire young audiences as well as emerging artisans. Meanwhile, Dr M Beena called the exhibition a convergence of art and design. The event featured textiles and garments by artisans and designers, including Anju Modi, Sonia Jetleey, and others. The exhibition runs till July 31....
