or singer Chin2 Bhosle, grandson of the late singer Asha Bhosle, his song Chalte Chalte, released on Wednesday, is far more than just another track - it is a deeply personal farewell to his grandmother.
The process of creating the song, he admits, was both instinctive and emotionally overwhelming. "It's easy as a musician and difficult as a grandson," says the singer, a member of the group Band of Boys.
Originally written for his grandmother, the song never made it to the recording stage. "She heard it and started crying. she said, 'I can't hear this song again. It's too painful for me'," Chin2 recalls, explaining how its themes of separation brought back memories of her own losses in life, including the deaths of two of her children, Hemant and Varsha.
After her passing on April 12 at the age of 92, Chin2 returned to the track, this time recording it in his own voice. "I can't think of any better representation from my side. This is how we spoke to each other," he says. Paired with a montage of their shared moments, the release became his tribute. Addressing it to his grandmother, he says, "You passed on those tears to me. I can't hear this song now. but you will be remembered."
For Chin2, carrying forward Asha Bhosle's legacy is less about attempting to match her greatness and more about upholding her values. "We can't take her legacy forward; it's impossible to touch what she's done. But we can take her values forward," he explains. That belief now shapes both his music and his decisions. "I cannot disrespect what I am taking forward in her name," he ends....
