arvel fans are abuzz with concern as reports of behind-the-scenes turmoil on Avengers: Doomsday surface, with Robert Downey Jr at the centre of the storm. Industry chatter points to ego clashes and reshoot demands, fuelling speculation about tensions on one of Marvel's most ambitious projects.
According to Cosmic Book and industry insider Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic podcast, Disney had initially filmed three weeks of footage using body and face doubles inside the Doctor Doom suit, while Downey Jr read his lines off-camera. "After two or three weeks, he was like, 'This isn't working. I want to reshoot everything with me in the suit'," Sneider claimed, adding that the studio was forced to reshoot the material despite paying the actor $50-60 million per film.
Sneider further compared the alleged dysfunction on set to the chaos of the Fast and Furious franchise, citing "a lot of testosterone and ego" as contributing factors. "In the end, there's only one person's way who matters, and that's actually Robert Downey Jr.'s way," he said.
While no actors have been officially named in connection with the feud, fans online believe Downey Jr. may have clashed with Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Social media has since been flooded with speculation, ranging from fears the film could tank to optimism that the fiery energy could make for even better on-screen chemistry.
