Anya: Aryan deserves all the praise
India, Sept. 27 -- Actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan made his debut as writer, director, and showrunner of the satirical comedy series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, which premiered this month to critical and audience praise. However, the project's scale and finesse have sparked scepticism on social media about the 28-year-old's ability to pull it off all by himself. Some have even suggested that not Aryan, but a ghost director had helmed the series.
Anya Singh, who plays Sanya on the show, has dismissed this conjecture while emphasising that Aryan deserves all the praise he is getting.
"I feel people just want an opportunity to bring another person down," the actor tells us, adding, "That's why I say he is so deserving of every good thing everyone is saying about him. He has worked really hard on this project. From 7 in the morning to 11pm, his energy never dropped. You never saw him sigh. He was always smiling and so focused."
The 32-year-old notes that Aryan had the option to work with veteran technicians, but chose to collaborate with a younger team instead.
"He is a young guy who stuck by his vision. He knew there'd be conversations and chatter, but he did not question his vision at any point. I have a lot of respect for how he has stood by his own thoughts," she says.
The climax at the end of the show with its shocking plot twist has generated significant buzz. Anya shares that besides actors Bobby Deol, Mona Singh and Manoj Pahwa, no other cast member knew the details until the day of the shoot. "We never read the climax. It was narrated to us on the day of the shoot. For months, we had no idea what the ending was," she reveals....
