Ankiita reveals how fake crime branch officers tried to scam her parents

fter actor Ankiita Bhargava took to Instagram Stories on Thursday to reveal how she narrowly escaped a scam attempt, she opens up to us about the unsettling ordeal.
Recalling the incident, the 41-year-old shares, "The scamsters told us our former neighbour was involved in a fraud case in Ahmedabad, and they were looking for him. They asked if we knew where he was and then told my father to sign a written statement saying we had nothing to do with it."
However, Ankita immediately grew suspicious after noticing that the statement was entirely in Gujarati. "I asked him, 'How do I know what you're saying and what's written is the same thing?'" Trying to verify the document, Ankita even attempted to decode it using ChatGPT. However, they could only identify a few names and the flat number mentioned in it. Realising something was off, she refused to let her father sign the paper.
Soon after, a neighbour informed them that she had already signed the paper and later came across similar scam cases online. Following legal advice, Ankita approached Mumbai's Oshiwara Police Station and filed a complaint. "Police confirmed that nobody from the Ahmedabad crime branch had come to Mumbai for any investigation," she says.
The incident, Ankita shares, has heightened her concern for elderly parents, who are often easy targets for such frauds. "Our parents still trust people very easily. It's sad, but they really have to stay careful now," she ends....
