India, May 26 -- Monday morning on social media was all about Chand Mera Dil, a recent release starring Ananya Panday and Lakshya. Not the film itself, but Ananya's Bharatnatyam performance. She performs the dance form in two key sequences in the romance drama. She is shown doing a robotic-Bharatnatyam fusion first when she is a college student, where Lakshya's character sees her for the first time. And the second time, during her college's Alumni meet. Unconvinced by her efforts, people were quick to dissect it on social media, alleging that it disrespects the dance form. We reached out to Ananya, Chand Mera Dil's director Vivek Soni, the film's choreographer Tejaswi Shetty and the sequence choreographer Ananyaa Kurup, but there was no response at the time of going to press.
