An evening toasting Danish-Indian camaraderie
India, Sept. 27 -- The Kingdom of Denmark doesn't have an official national day, but the spirit of celebration was alive on Thursday evening as Ambassador Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen hosted 'Denmark Day' at his residence.
"What are we celebrating here in September? This month marks the establishment of relations between Denmark and India back in 1949. Indeed, there is much to celebrate," he said.
Kristensen also shared his surprise at the vast Danish footprint in India dating back 400 years, when merchants from the country first arrived in Tamil Nadu's Tharangambadi (formerly Tranquebar): "We have been here for centuries; long enough to know that curry and pastries actually make a fantastic combination!"
Among the prominent guests at the do were Smriti Irani, former Union Minister, and Pooja Kapur, Additional Secretary, MEA, and former Indian Ambassador to Denmark....
