India, Aug. 24 -- Every stitch carries a story, and on Saturday morning, India Habitat Centre, celebrated one of ambition, heritage, craftsmanship and an unwavering pursuit of excellence. Author Ashok Kumar Bal launched Bespoken: From Tunapuna to Buckingham Palace, a biography of master tailor Prof Andrew M Ramroop OBE CMTT. The event brought together Delhi's fashion, design and literary circles to honour Ramroop's remarkable journey, from his roots in Trinidad, Caribbean, to the heart of London's legendary Savile Row The author revealed that the book was sparked by a chance encounter at a Mumbai tailoring shop, where he spotted a certificate bearing Ramroop's name. Describing the biography as a guide for dreamers, Bal said, "It is a roadmap for creative conviction for aspiring dreamers. In many ways, it is also an attempt to decode a phenomenon... It ultimately captures a journey of audacity, resilience, struggle, devotion, dedication and triumph of the human spirit." Dressed in a suit he tailored for himself back in 2002, Ramroop spoke about the enduring nature of true style. "This suit speaks what Bespoken is all about: sustainability... Fashion is a moving target, but style and elegance outlast fashion. They are an expression of individuality," he said. He hopes his life story becomes "a story of strength, perseverance and purpose, one that is inspirational, encouraging and motivational." Presiding over the launch, Sunil Sethi, Chairperson of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), praised Ramroop's work, saying, "For me, and for many people who have followed his work, Andrew is really the god of ultra-bespoke on Savile Row."...
