'We're still fighting to see brown people on-screen in the West'

rom YouTube creator to late-night host and now actor, Lilly Singh continues to add new chapters to her career. She recently starred in the American comedy series Deli Boys 2, which follows two Pakistani-American brothers, and says it was a "dream and an honour" to help represent "brown skin colour" on screen.
"The struggle here [in Hollywood] is that we're fighting to just have our skin colour on screen. So when you get to have a show like this where not only are there South Asians on screen, but they get to have such a range of personality, that's really special," the 37-year-old shares." She adds, "True representation for us would be to see messy brown characters that get to make mistakes, swear a lot, be sexual and get to be an array of things."
Reflecting on the representation she grew up with, Lilly says, "My only representation of specifically brown people was in Hindi cinema. So I always think, how would my life be different if while growing up I had shows where I actually saw myself. But I'm happy that people growing up now can see themselves on screen and it broadens what's possible for them."...
