India, Sept. 20 -- In his three-decade career, actor Rajesh Tailang mostly worked in TV and secondary film roles. Mainstream success came much later, with the advent of OTT platforms, where he appeared in hits like Mirzapur, Delhi Crime, and his recent lead in Bakaiti opposite Sheeba Chadha. The show is a slice-of-life story about a small-town family, a recurring theme in many OTT projects Rajesh has done. He believes creators revisit these themes to connect with broader audiences as technology and storytelling evolve together. "Up until a few years ago, OTT was for solo viewing. People would watch it alone, so the content would also be catering to that. But since the advent of smart TVs, OTT has also turned into a family-viewing experience. So maybe such content is also being made which is connecting to the audience at large. Technology and content simultaneously evolved as per one another," he explains. The recognition character actors like him have received has seeped into larger, theatrical projects too. Rajesh explains, "The impact shows in films too, which wasn't there earlier. It's films like Badhaai Ho (2018) and Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) that changed the perspective. If we see the roles of mother and father in them, it wasn't their identity but their relationship with the protagonist. So, woh roles rishte se badhke kuch bane in kahaaniyon ke chalte. Ab woh sirf maa ya baap nahin, unke khud ke characters hain."...
