India, May 22 -- M usic composer Pritam has broken his silence after his latest song Mashooqa from Cocktail 2 sparked plagiarism allegations online. Soon after the track dropped, several social media users claimed it bore similarities to the 1993 Italian song Se So Arrubate A Nonna, reigniting a familiar debate around the composer's music. Reacting to the controversy, Pritam took to Instagram Stories late Wednesday night and expressed frustration over what he described as constant scrutiny around his songs. "Every single of my song release comes with set of self-appointed music detectives, who have created a new genre called 'imaginary similarities'. Same people, same 'inspired by' thesis. Boss, at this point you are my unpaid PR team. I just want to say guys NOT NICE," he wrote. This is not the first time the National Award-winning composer has found himself at the centre of plagiarism allegations. Over the years, internet users have repeatedly pointed out similarities between some of his compositions and international tracks. In 2017, for instance, social media users alleged that the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil song Bulleya resembled music by American rock band Papa Roach.
