India, Nov. 7 -- F or actor Shanaya Kapoor, Diwali means family reunions, home-cooked feasts and memories of her late grandmother, Nirmal Kapoor, who passed away in May 2025. This year, the Kapoor family is keeping the tradition alive, thanks to her cousin, Anshula Kapoor. "I remember being at my dadi's house for Diwali and having a huge family meal with all of us dressed up. Usually, we're always meeting each other after so long because the year is filled up with so many schedules, travels and shoots, and finally Diwali is a day where my dadi used to always bring the family together," recalls Shanaya, daughter of actor Sanjay Kapoor and reality show personality Maheep Kapoor. This year, Anshula took the initiative to bring everyone together. "Anshula messaged in our family group saying, 'Guys, should we do Diwali this year?' And my dad was like, 'Of course. Let's plan it, and we should meet up for dinner because it's been a ritual.' I feel it's a moment for me and the whole family to even remember her (dadi) because this used to be her thing," she shares. Beyond family gatherings, Diwali also means time with friends. "There are so many parties. In fact, at this moment, I'm actually at Khushi (Kapoor)'s house, and we're discussing our Diwali looks in her room," says Shanaya. Her close-knit circle, including actors Khushi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Suhana Khan and entrepreneur Navya Naveli Nanda, is also her biggest support system, besides her mother. "I am constantly chatting with them about how I'm feeling. So, this is my core group I just lean on. I can trust them and talk to them about anything, which I think is very rare to find. And I'm very grateful for that," she adds. On the work front, Shanaya is gearing up for the release of Student of the Year: After Dark, in which she plays a double role. "I'm very, very overwhelmed. It's a show that is very close to my heart. SOTY was the first project that I got in my hands. So it's been a very long journey," she says....
