India, Sept. 27 -- On a Delhi stroll with HT City, Ishwak Singh recently revisited the city that shaped him from his theatre days at Triveni Kala Sangam to his favourite Mughlai spots in Khan Market. The actor, known for shows such as Pataal Lok and Rocket Boys, grew up in the Capital and says the city's nostalgia is inseparable from its food. "When I'm in Delhi, I let myself loose. I go to Khan Market and have some kebabs. That's how I relive my good old days," he says. Singh, who was recently seen in the thriller film Gandhari in a supporting role, says he has never viewed himself through the lens of being "the second guy". He shares, "It's great to be in the middle of a poster, but this is not the first and last thing that I'm doing," adding, "As an actor, I'm a cog in the wheel. I wish to be a part of good stories, play good characters, not worry about being projected as the lead." Singh credits filmmakers such as Imtiaz Ali, Nikkhil Advani and Atul Sabharwal (with whom he worked in 2015's Tamasha, 2018's Veere Di Wedding and 2024's Berlin, respectively) for shaping his journey. Recalling his two-day stint in Tamasha, he says Ali's approach changed his perspective. He adds, "Even with someone who's a two-day actor, he explained things to me with the same passion and interest." Calling himself "nothing but a product of these directors", Singh says he remains grateful to filmmakers who supported him early in his career....
