Mohali, June 16 -- A Rajasthan man has been booked for allegedly thrashing a woman and threatening to kill her at her workplace in Zirakpur, police said. The accused has been identified as Abhishek Sharma, alias Gaurav. The victim, Bharti, 28, who works at a private firm in Zirakpur, said she met Abhishek through Instagram and the two had worked together on online assignments for some time. In her complaint, Bharti alleged that Abhishek entered her office in Shivalik Vihar, Bhabat, on Saturday and began shouting at her. She claimed that when she tried to leave the office, he blocked her path and thrashed her. The reason behind the assault is being ascertained, police said. Hearing her cries for help, her colleagues Rahul, Yogesh, Vaibhav and Monika rushed to the spot, following which Abhishek left while allegedly threatening to kill her. Bharti later approached the Zirakpur police station along with a colleague. Based on her statement, the police have slapped Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Officials said efforts were underway to trace the accused and verify the circumstances leading to the assault....
