Mohali, Aug. 12 -- A 24-year-oldZimbabwean national died after his scooter crashed into a stationary truck near a medical college in Zirakpur on Sunday. The deceased, OnwardMasimba Njanji, a resident of Unitech Cascades Tower, was riding an Activa, bearing registration number HR-01-AH-0559, around 6am when the incident took place. Police said the truck driver had allegedly left the vehicle on the roadside without proper safety precautions, such as switching on the parking lights or indicators. Njanji died on the spot from the impact. Police registered an FIR at Zirakpur police station on the complaint of his friend Milton Kurangwa, 29, a resident of Silver City Dreams, Mubarkpur, Dera Bassi, and a student at Synetic Business School, Ludhiana. The case has been registered against an unidentified truck driver under Sections 281 (rash, negligent driving), 106 (causing death through negligent acts) and 324(4) (mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
