Woman, aide held for hiring hitman for Rs.5Lakh to kill ex-boyfriend
Dehradun, Sept. 13 -- A 26-year-old woman allegedly hired a contract killer for Rs.5 lakh to murder her ex-boyfriend after he was engaged to another woman, police said on Saturday.
The woman was identified as Maliya Rahman. She was arrested along with her alleged associate Mohit and the suspected shooter, Ankit Chauhan.
The victim was identified as Satyam Kumar, who is undergoing treatment, said police. SSP Pramendra Dobhal said Rahman was in a relationship with Kumar for around five years. She got married in 2023 but was in touch with Kumar. He said Kumar was engaged in February and slowly stopped communicating with Rahman. Mohit introduced Chauhan to Rahman after she approached him to plan the murder, said Dobhal. He said she allegedly agreed to pay Chauhan Rs.5 lakh and gave him an advance of Rs.1.20 lakh. She also allegedly gave him Kumar's photograph and identified his Ujjivan Bank office in Dehradun.
On September 8, Kumar sustained serious injuries after two motorcycle-borne men opened fire on him and his cousin while they were on their to Barowala.
Police examined CCTV footage and used electronic surveillance to identify the suspects. On Friday evening, police spotted Chauhan and his associate Ankur on an unnumbered motorcycle near Gorakhpur Chowk. Police said the suspects fled towards a forest and fired at the pursuing police team. Chauhan was shot in the leg in retalitory firing. He reportedly revealed Rahman's role in planing the incident. Chauhan has previous cases registered against him under theft, arms and other provisions, police officers said....
